There is something about lace that makes a girl feel pretty! I love to incorporate different types of fabric into an outfit to give it some depth. Layers are a must trend.

Mint Jeans…Yay or Nay?

I can’t help but love the pastel trend, especially mint jeans. I see it everywhere and although I do not live in a cold climate it still makes me look forward to spring and summer. These hues feel like such a breath of fresh air.

I have been trying for the last year to incorporate more colors into my wardrobe and weed out some of the black and this trend is making it so easy!

I recently added a mint cardigan and a few other pastel tops to my wardrobe and I absolutely adore them, although when it comes to bottoms that is another story. I often try on mint  jeans or other light hued jeans as I love this trend but they look terrible on me.  I am not sure what my issue is with these lighter hued jeans because I love the idea of color jeans and have a pair of bordeaux jeans that I basically could live in. It’s so disappointing to me that something is standing between me and purchasing a pair of mint jeans.

What to wear for Valentine’s Day?

Valentines Day is fast approaching and having the perfect valentine’s day outfit is important to many women. On a day that is centered around love it is always fun to get a little extra dressed up in celebration.

Although, there is a lot of hype around the day and many choose to dine out, my husband and I usually prefer a quiet night in. We spend the evening making homemade heart shaped pizzas and drink wine and just enjoy each other’s company. For those of you who have big plans to head out and need some suggestions on what to wear, here is my favorite Valentine’s Day dress from ChiChi Collections.

We just celebrated my sister’s 30th birthday and we had so much fun coming up with 30th birthday party ideas. We chose to do a black, white and silver color scheme. Here are some of the 30th birthday party ideas that we decided to use for her party.

1. 30th Birthday Party Idea: Mason Jar Drinks

Creating mason jar drinks is really simple.  First if you don’t already have the mason jars, pick them up at your local grocery store, kmart or amazon.com. Second, buy cupcake liners and punch a hole in the center.  Third, purchase decorative straws for your mason jar drinks…believe me…it adds a lot of style! Lastly, decide on what drink you want to make in your mason jars.  I chose sangria…but you could make anything you’d like.

2. 30th Birthday Party Idea: Picture Story Board

This picture story board turned out to be such a neat idea and the perfect 30th birthday party idea.  You simply pull together as many photos as you’d like and tape them together in the shape of a 30 (or whatever birthday you are celebrating). I decided to turn all the photos black and white, but you certainly do not have to do that.

3. 30th Birthday Party Idea: Wine Bottle Candle Centerpiece

Lining your table with wine bottles and candles makes a dramatic centerpiece and stunning when the candles are lit.  We opted for a white table cloth over the table and a black table runner on top of that.  We also added a few decorative pieces to it.

4. 30th Birthday Party Idea: Float Balloons with Lights in a Pool

Floating balloons with lights in a pool is absolutely stunning, as you can see. We also added candles around the edge of the pool to create a cozy ambiance.

5. 30th Birthday Party Idea:  Create Food Name Tags

Creating food name tags as a birthday party idea is great because it not only looks awesome, it allows your guests to know exactly what they are eating.  Have fun creating your food name tags, there is endless options when you design them.  I purchased all my supplies at Michael’s.

6. 30th Birthday Party Ideas: Hang Mason Jars

Hanging mason jars with candles in them is also a really fun birthday party idea.  Mason jars can be hung from umbrellas, like we did or they can be hung from trees.

This past weekend was spent being surrounded by my amazing friends and family in celebration of my 30th Birthday. My family put together an incredible party all from pins on my Pinterest board. From the food to the decor, everything was simply perfect. It was a wonderful evening that I will never forget. Just to be sure here are just a few of the photos from the evening’s celebrations.

Winterizing Summer Dresses!

If you are anything like me, you have a million summer dresses that just sit and take up space during the winter months. It’s funny because as much as the temps stay pretty warm here in Florida I still don’t ever feel right pulling out a summer styled dress and wearing it in the winter. That’s where winterizing summer dresses comes into play!

Lately, I have seen a few photos that inspired me to winterize my summer dresses.  I simply pair my dress such as here and here with tights, a blazer and booties as shown below to create the perfect ensemble for chilly days.  By adding these items back in my wardrobe during the winter I expand my options as well as loose the guilt of only wearing them a few months a year.

I woke up the other morning to a chilly 50 degrees! Brrr…if you are living in a cooler climate, I am sorry. The past few weeks here in Florida have been record highs for us. I always love when cooler temps find us, but my body is just not used to it.

As I mentioned I do enjoy these cooler temps because it allows me to break out some of my favorite “Winter” pieces.

Pastel Trend…

Did anyone see Kathie Lee & Hoda last Friday?  It is not my usual go-to morning show, but it was on at the gym and I couldn’t help but notice a segment on fashion and the pastel trend. I have not always been on board with pastels, mainly because I think most of the time people look like giant Easter Eggs. However, my taste changed a little when I started spotting more and more of the mint hue.
